This qualification is for people who want to work as an early childhood educator in a centre-based service and family day care. This is a nationally regulated diploma level qualification for working in early childhood education and care.
Description
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

This nationally accredited Diploma is a comprehensive course designed to give the learner the skills and knowledge in a range of areas including:

Assessment
Assessment for this qualification includes underpinning knowledge questions, written assignments, work-based projects and third party reports. There is also a required practical placement within the Early Childhood sector. The assessments you will complete during your placement, including the observation when your trainer visits you in the workplace, are probably the most important part of your course. This is where you are required to demonstrate that you can apply the theory in the real world.
All students studying this course will be required to undergo a working with children check. Our staff will advise you regarding how to apply.

After achieving the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care participants could complete a degree in Early Childhood Education
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students who have completed units of study from nationally recognised courses can apply for Credit Transfer. Those who have existing knowledge from practical experience can apply for RPL. To check eligibility, please discuss with Australian Careers College prior to enrolment.
Mandatory Work Placement
Australian Careers College can assist in work placement where students will be provided with orientation, supervision and will have the opportunity to fully develop their skills in the actual workplace. However, students are encouraged to seek work placement opportunities independently.
